Lam, Laurel, Hardy, and Chang: iconic and familiar names headline Eureka’s April 2025 line-up

Eureka! has announced its April 2025 line-up up for the UK and North America.  Featured amongst this line-up is an explosive story of heroic bloodshed featuring Andy Lau and Rosamund Kwan; Two films from the long and illustrious career of director Chang Cheh; and ten silent shorts showcasing the legendary and most iconic comedy double act of all time.

The most celebrated comedy duo in cinema history, Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy formed their decades-long partnership in the late 1920s in a series of silent shorts produced at the Hal Roach Studios. Having developed their on-screen chemistry in the likes of Do Detectives Think?Putting Pants on Philip and The Battle of the Century throughout 1927, Laurel & Hardy forged on as a double act in the last years of the silent era and into the age of talking pictures.

The Masters of Cinema series is honoured to present some of the finest (and funniest) films Laurel & Hardy ever made – newly restored in 2K resolution from the finest available materials – in a limited two-disc Blu-ray edition for the first time in the UK – Laurel & Hardy: The Silent Years (1928). This collection brings together the silent Laurel & Hardy shorts produced during 1928, as their partnership began to gather steam, and features Leave ’em Laughing, You’re Darn Tootin’, From Soup to Nuts, Early to Bed, Should Married Men Go Home?, and more. Available from 28 April 2025, the limited edition of 2000 copies only will exclusively feature an O-card slipcase and collector’s booklet.

One of the Shaw Brothers Studio’s most prolific directors, Chang Cheh – or the “Godfather of Hong Kong Cinema” – is the filmmaker behind Five Deadly VenomsChinatown Kid and Boxer Rebellion. Collected here are two films by this maestro of martial arts cinema that showcase his considerable talents at both ends of his career: The Magnificent Trio, produced when wuxia films ruled the Hong Kong box office in the mid-1960s, and Magnificent Wanderers, made at the height of the kung fu craze at the end of the 1970s.

From straight-faced wuxia pian to farcical kung fu comedy, The Magnificent Trio and Magnificent Warriors display the full range of Chang Cheh, a filmmaker who sat in the director’s chair for over three decades. Eureka Classics is proud to present The Magnificent Chang Cheh on Blu-ray for the first time in the UK and North America. Available on Blu-ray from 28 April 2025 in the UK, and from 29 April 2025 in North America. Presented in a Limited edition of 2000 copies (per territory) exclusively featuring an O-card slipcase and collector’s booklet.

The only collaboration between action master Ringo Lam (City on Fire) and Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau(Infernal Affairs), The Adventurers is an explosive story of heroic bloodshed featuring Rosamund Kwan(Once Upon a Time in China), David Chiang (Election) and Victor Wong (Big Trouble in Little China).

Made shortly before Ringo Lam departed for Hollywood to make Maximum Risk with Jean-Claude Van Damme, The Adventurers is a hidden gem amongst the many heroic bloodshed films produced in Hong Kong during the 1990s. Eureka Classics is proud to present the film on Blu-ray for the first time in the UK and North America from a brand new 2K restoration. Available from 28 April 2025 in the UK, and from 29 April 2025 in North America. The Limited Edition (2000 copies per region) will include an exclusive O-card slipcase and a collector’s booklet.
