Eureka! announces major July 2026 Line-Up featuring Laurel & Hardy, DEFA classics, and 1950s Sci-fi horror

Eureka! has revealed an ambitious and eclectic July line-up for its acclaimed Masters of Cinema and Eureka Classics ranges, led by a major release celebrating comedy legends Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy.

At the heart of the announcement is a historic collection of nine silent short films from the iconic duo, capturing the pair at a pivotal moment in their careers. By 1929, Laurel and Hardy had firmly established themselves as one of cinema’s greatest double acts, building on earlier successes such as You’re Darn Tootin’, Should Married Men Go Home?, and We Faw Down. As the industry transitioned to sound, these final silent outings showcased the comedians at the height of their creative powers.

This new collection, part of the Masters of Cinema Series, brings together their complete silent shorts from 1929, newly restored in 2K by Blackhawk Films. The two-disc Blu-ray edition will be released in the UK on 20 July 2026, strictly limited to 2,000 copies, and will include an exclusive O-card slipcase and collector’s booklet.

Also featured in Eureka!’s June slate is a striking compilation of five fairy-tale adaptations from East Germany’s famed DEFA studio. Produced between 1950 and 1989, these Märchenfilme reimagine classic stories from writers such as Wilhelm Hauff, Hans Christian Andersen, and the Brothers Grimm.

The collection includes some of DEFA’s most celebrated, and darkest, works, including The Devil From Mill Mountain, The Singing Ringing Tree, Rumpelstiltskin, Little Red Riding Hood, and The Devil’s Three Golden Hairs. Known for their vivid visuals and distinctive blend of fantasy and socialist allegory, these films remain a cornerstone of German cinema history, though rarely seen outside the former Eastern Bloc.

Presented together on Blu-ray for the first time in the UK, this Limited Edition set (2,000 copies) will be released on 27 July 2026. It comes housed in a hardbound slipcase and includes an exclusive 60-page collector’s book.

Rounding out the announcement is a thrilling homage to 1950s creature features with a double bill of The Beast with a Million Eyes and The Beast of Hollow Mountain. Emerging from the Atomic Age, a period defined by fascination and fear surrounding nuclear science, these films exemplify a golden era of science fiction cinema filled with alien invasions, giant monsters, and apocalyptic spectacle.

Evoking the spirit of classic drive-in screenings and double-feature programming, the films will be released together on Blu-ray for the first time in the UK under the Eureka Classics label. This Limited Edition set, also capped at 2,000 copies, arrives on 20 July 2026 and includes an O-card slipcase and collector’s booklet.

With a blend of silent comedy, European fantasy, and retro sci-fi thrills, Eureka!’s July line-up offers film enthusiasts a richly curated journey through cinema history.
