A couple of horror-comedies, an expressionist nightmare, and some girls with guns make up Eureka’s December 2022 line-up

Eureka! Has announced its December 2022 line-up. Featured amongst this line-up is one of the first true “girls with guns” action films; a charming double-bill of horror-comedies; and a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray edition of one of the most iconic masterpieces in cinema history.

Originally released as “Police Assassins” in the UK, Yes, Madam! was the first starring role for both Michelle Yeoh and Cynthia Rothrock, who stunned audiences with their incredible athleticism and stunt work. Produced by Sammo Hung and John Sham, the film is as expected, an incredible action showcase in the inimitable Hong Kong style of the time. Launching both a successful franchise (the In the Line of Duty series) as well as an entire sub-genre of action cinema (“girls-with-guns” – a genre which did not truly exist before this film), Yes, Madam! is one of the most important and influential action films of its era, and Eureka Classics is proud to present the film in its UK debut on Blu-ray from a brand new 2K restoration. Available from 12 December 2022, the first print-run of 2000 copies will feature a Limited-Edition O-card Slipcase (featuring new artwork TBC) and Collector’s Booklet.

Ghosts and gags galore in this charming double-bill of horror-comedies starring Bob Hope and Paulette Goddard. Eureka Classics is proud to present both The Cat and the Canary (dir. Elliott Nugent, 1939) and The Ghost Breakers (dir. George Marshall, 1940) in their UK debuts on Blu-ray. Available from 5 December 2022, the first print-run of 2000 copies will feature a Limited-Edition O-card Slipcase & Collector’s Booklet.

One of the most iconic masterpieces in cinema history, Robert Wiene’s Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari shook filmgoers worldwide and changed the direction of the art form. Now presented in a definitive UHD edition, the film’s chilling, radically expressionist vision is set to grip viewers again. Incalculably influential, the film’s nightmarishly jagged sets, sinister atmospheric and psychological emphasis left an immediate impact in its wake (horror, film noir, and gothic cinema would all be shaped directly by it). But this diabolical tale nevertheless stands alone – now more mesmerising than ever in its UK debut on Ultra HD Blu-ray. Available from 5 December 2022, the Limited-Edition set (3000 copies only) will feature a Hardbound Slipcase & 100-page Collector’s Booklet.
