An Oscar nominated classic, an epic of Weimar Cinema plus a throwback to the 90s indie drama, feature among Eureka’s latest announcements

Eureka! has announced its December 2021 line-up today, and revealed an additional title for its November schedule. Featured amongst these announcements are G.W. Pabst’s epic of Weimar Cinema starring Brigitte Helm; an intimate and aching family drama from critically-acclaimed indie filmmaker Alexandre Rockwell; and one of the greatest boxing films ever made.

An epic of the Weimar cinema, The Love of Jeanne Ney follows a young French woman’s struggle for happiness amid the political turbulence and corruption of post-World War I Europe. A tour de force for director G. W. Pabst (Diary of a Lost Girl, Pandora’s Box), the film blends a variety of cinematic approaches as it weaves its complex narrative of moral chaos and political upheaval: the “American Style,” evocative of the Hollywood studio blockbuster; the avant-garde techniques of Soviet montage; as well as the eerie moving camerawork and shadowy perspectives typical of German Expressionism. The result is a stunning cinematic experiment that never fails to surprise the viewer as it races towards its exhilarating conclusion. Available for the first time in the UK, the Masters of Cinema Series is proud to present The Love of Jeanne Ney on Blu-ray from 6 December 2021.

From acclaimed director Alexandre Rockwell (In The SoupLittle Feet), Sweet Thing is an intense but ultimately uplifting, poetic rendering of childhood that captures the essence of that time in life when a day can last forever. The friendships, loyalties, and challenges of adolescent youth propel the story into a triumph of childhood hope and resilience. Released on 15 November 2021 in a worldwide Blu-ray debut as part of the Montage Pictures range. The first Print Run will feature a Limited-Edition Collector’s Booklet.

The brutal and uncompromising Champion earned Kirk Douglas his first ever Oscar nomination and was a huge success for director Mark Robson (Von Ryan’s ExpressValley of the Dolls).  Fully restored and featuring gorgeous black and white cinematography by Franz Planer (Breakfast at Tiffany’s), the Masters of Cinema Series is proud to present Champion on Blu-ray for the first time in the UK.  Available from 6 December 2021.
