More action from Sammo Hung, and more drama from John Ford, as Eureka reveal their January 2022 line-up

Eureka! has announced its January 2022 line-up today. Featured amongst this announcement are John Ford’s masterpiece set in an idyllic Kentucky town at the turn of the century; and two Hong Kong action classics from Sammo Hung.

The notoriously difficult to please John Ford regarded The Sun Shines Bright as his favourite film. Based on material from Irvin S. Cobb’s “Judge Priest” short stories, Ford had previously directed the 1934 film JUDGE PRIEST starring Will Rogers, but was unsatisfied with the handling of the film by 20th Century Fox – specifically their decision to cut a vital scene depicting the main character condemning an attempted lynching. Two decades later he chose to revisit the material for Republic Pictures, and the result was yet another masterpiece from the great director. The Sun Shines Bright almost shared a similar fate as Judge Priest, with ten minutes of footage being removed by Republic Pictures. Fortunately, the original uncut master was not destroyed, and has now been fully restored and makes its UK debut on Blu-ray as part of the Masters of Cinema series, available from 24 January 2022.

Two Hong Kong action classics from Sammo HungWarriors Two and The Prodigal Son both depict a version of the real-life kung fu master Leung Jan, whose mastery of Wing Chun would make him a legend.  Featuring some of Sammo Hung’s most memorable action choreography, Warriors Two and The Prodigal Son are not to be missed and make their UK debuts on Blu-ray from brand new 2K restorations! Available in a Limited Edition 2-Disc set [3000 copies only] featuring an O-Card Slipcase, Reversible Poster and Collectors Booklet, and released on 24 January 2022.
