INHERIT THE WIND and BREAKHEART PASS complete the May 2018 line up

Eureka’s May 2018 release schedule has been completed today, with two new entries to the Eureka Classics range!

Described by Steven Spielberg as “one of our great filmmakers, not just for the art and passion he put on screen, but for the impact he has made on the conscience of the world”, the films of producer and director Stanley Kramer, most notable for The Defiant Ones and Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, frequently confronted social issues considered too controversial for the major studios. In Inherit the Wind he tackled the creationism vs. evolution debate, via a powerful and provocative courtroom drama based on the real-life Scopes “Monkey” Trial of 1925. Nominated for multiple Academy Awards, Inherit the Wind (starring Spencer Tracy and Frederic March) is rightfully recognised as one of the most entertaining, and provocative films of its era.  Inherit the Wind will be released in the Eureka Classics range for the first time on Blu-ray in the UK, in a special Dual Format edition, available from 14 May 2018. These two titles will both be released in May alongside the previously announced The Old Dark House, one of the best and most entertaining horror films of the 1930s. Dripping with atmosphere and packed to the brim with thrills, chills and gallows humour, the film was considered lost for many years, but is now being presented from a stunning new 4K restoration. With an incredible cast, including Boris Karloff (Frankenstein, The Mummy), Melvyn Douglas (Hud, Twilight’s Last Gleaming), Gloria Stuart (Titanic) and Charles Laughton (Witness for the Prosecution, Ruggles of Red Gap), The Masters of Cinema Series is proud to present The Old Dark House in a special Dual Format edition, the first time the film has been available on Blu-ray in the UK, available from 21 May 2018, following its theatrical release in the UK & Ireland on 27 April 2018. Check out our New & Exclusive trailer here
